The power of cinnamon bark oil and how I use it!
This oil packs a punch and is one of the strongest and most powerful of all the essential oils.
Cinnamon Bark is listed Dioscorides’ De Materia Medica (78 AD), Europe’s first authoritative guide to medicines, which became the standard reference work for herbal treatments for over 1700 years.
It’s medical properties:
Anti inflammatory
Powerfully antibacterial. It has one of the highest oils in polyphenols giving it natural antibacterial properties. It can be applied directly to fresh wounds to prevent the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria (although it is a “hot” oil and will leave a burning or stinging sensation on the skin. For topical application is best to dilute).
Antiviral
Antifungal
Anticoagulant (breaks up mucous)
Circulatory stimulant
Stomach protective (ulcers)
Antiparasitic (worms)
Cinnamon bark oil has been used for cardiovascular disease, infection diseases, viral infections (e.g. herpes), digestive complaints, ulcers and warts.
How to use it:
Topically
Ingestion e.g. add a drop to rice porridge, smoothies, desserts, cakes. If one drop is too intense you can do the toothpick method (dip a toothpick into the bottle of oil and swirl the toothpick into the food/drink) or you can encapsulate (buy empty capsules from pharmacy).
Aromatically (less commonly)
